Before we try to answer this questions we must first ask - What does being ethical mean?

However, even before that, we must separate morals from ethics.

Morals are often personal, while ethical standards are typically professional and relate to a business or organisation.

To be ethical means acting in accordance with accepted principles of right and wrong, such as Integrity, Fairness and Respect, Responsibility and Accountability, Moral Decision-making and Avoiding Harm.

Integrity and Honesty:

Consistently adhering to strong moral principles and being truthful in actions and decisions.

Fairness and Respect:

Treating others equitably and with respect, regardless of personal gain.

Responsibility and Accountability:

Taking personal ownership of actions and their consequences, especially in professional or social contexts.

Moral Decision-Making:

Making choices based on what is right rather than just what is easy, profitable, or even legal.

Avoiding Harm:

Operating in a way that avoids causing social or environmental damage.

Remember:

Every business, tech or otherwise, has a moral obligation to be ethical.
